Description

Other treasures to discover in Sicily are the sites of Erice and Marsala. From Palermo a mere hour’s drive away, it’s an atmospheric trip ‘wandering through medieval streets’ for ‘tastings’ of regional delicacies, and a chance to find other enchanting locations such as ‘the salt route’. The trip starts with a very fast but smooth drive from Palermo to Erice. It will take about one hour and fifteen minutes. The more you sit back, the more you will be able to see the wonders of Sicily coastlines and countryside flash by the window. On arriving in Erice, a special guide will welcome you and take you around places in that old small medieval city. He’ll take you climbing up to the hilltop from where a breathtaking scene of the coastline can be enjoyed till the Egadi Islands. That, and of course the famous Sicilian treat known as granita. On and after April 1, 2025, the stop for granita will, regrettably, no longer be included as the tour is being trimmed.

Discover Marsala and taste the best sweet wine on the planet

After your sightseeing in Erice is over, you will be driven to Marsala stopping en route at a very special place where the gourmet riches of Sicily are laid out for you. On this sumptuous lunch stop, enjoy not just Sicilian tradition in food, but take a wine tasting of the surrounding local productions as well as taste some of the best olive oils of the region on your private tour of Erice and Marsala. It is a great way to follow up getting ‘in touch’ with the culture of the area that you are visiting; make the most of your experiential travel and get a feel for local flavors while traveling.

See the amazing salt road in Marsala

A trip to Marsala is something not to miss while in western Sicily. The little town is cut by a strip of land that links Trapani to the sea, flanked on either side by one of the most beautiful landscapes in Sicily, known as the Saline. Prepare to see a site that you may think impossible! The calm pools of water around the white mills with the high white salt mountains would make for a romantic and almost dreamlike setting. The colors of the sky’s and water’s surface’s merging together create a surreal feeling there; indeed, you step into a painting! You know the charm of this part of Sicily, and you are ready to go back to Palermo with cherishes by the heap.
