Description
Crave adventure? Why not climb the peak of Europe's most sprightly volcano - an exciting venture to cross off your bucket list with this engaging, flavor-filled trek and taste tour.
Duration
A full working shift.About
Get ready for a complete day trip from either Taormina or Giardini Naxos, specifically designed for adventurous souls. It involves an expert-led trek on the slopes of Mount Etna - all capped off with delectable luncheon! Embark on an exciting journey to one of Europe's most active volcanoes, departing with ease from Taormina or Giardini Naxos. Let your eyes feast upon the shifting landscapes as you climb higher, readying yourself for a truly unique communion with Mount Etna's nature. Upon touching ground at Mount Etna's foothills, a guide is there to meet you. This one will set you on your way up the volcano along a designated trekking path. Your ascent takes you towards the summit of not just one but several - some seven, in fact - lateral craters which emerged from an eruption that took place back in 1865; it formed what can only be described as 'button-shaped' features: an array of conical shapes successively aligned upon the axis where eruptions happen, giving appearance as if they were buttons. Immerse yourself in the unique ambiance that defines this area, caught between the pyroclastic materials spewed by the volcano during its explosive eruption phase—like scoria, lapilli and volcanic 'bombs'—and compelling natural wonders. You'll get a chance to marvel at gorgeous tree varieties such as betula aetnensis—an unusual type of birch typically found in Northern Europe but occurs solely on Mount Etna's north side when it comes to Sicily. Suppose you hit the trails and lady luck shines bright enough to bless you with a clear, sunny day. Magnificent vistas of Calabria unfolding all the way up to Taormina will greet your eyes! Some days, if fortune stays on our side, we might even set our gaze upon Stromboli Island in the distance. After such an invigorating stroll, it's high time for some sustenance––and by that I mean tucking into a hearty lunch packed full of typical Sicilian delicacies laid out under Etna’s majesty—it’ll sure make this outing something rather unforgettable. Picture this. A delectably satisfying three-course lunch, accompanied by refreshing beverages, awaits. Such a feast will likely make an ideal reward for your day's strenuous hike! Oh and let’s not forget, there's also going to be about one hour just for you – quality ‘me time’ in the locality on offer before heading back to either Taormina or Giardini Naxos.Inclusions
