As the journey continues, it brings visitors to the great Temple of Concordia, a site much admired and known to be the lasting emblem of classic beauty in Doric architecture—true heighth and proportion for something so beautifully formed. Named after the Roman goddess of harmony, balance itself finds here within these very walls. Symmetry also gives strength as well; its grandly rising before us against blue skies are the sturdy columns in Doric style that stood long and hard to build this place of worship meant to last.
Leaving the Temple of Concordia, the trip moves to the Temple of Olympian Zeus—an awesome set of columns and ruins that stand as a soft reminder of the great power of the gods, which one will surely feel while slowly walking around its whole edge.

Learn how the Chthonic Deities made a link between two worlds
At Porta V, where your passage through the Agrigento Valley of the Temples concludes, this great gate will exemplify how tangled is that relationship between man and his gods — including not just the celestial deities of Olympus but also the earthly powers which brought fords to life, death, and those dark mysteries of the underworld. It is due to the presence of the Chthonic deities in this part of the Valley that gives rise to something from the Greek word "khthonios," meaning “those who lie beneath the earth.” It refers to all typically female deities connected with the cult of gods below ground and embodying seismic or volcanic forces. It comes from a Greek word used by Ferecides of Syros to identify an original cosmic entity along with Zas and Kronos: Chthonies. These were powerful over areas not open to human sight—areas of darkness, renewal, and change.
