About

The Florence walking tour takes you right into the heartbeat of this spectacular city with an incredible past spanning centuries as you saunter in the shadows of the Medici where to control of the city during 14th and 15th century while enjoying a leisurely walk. A professional guide will walk you through history of Florence starting from when it was inhabited in prehistoric times moving on with its importance e being a key center for Etruscan culture till later years as a Roman city known as "Florentia." Middle Ages, full of strife; yet in this era, Florence discovered fame and riches via cloth production and trade, coupled with ambitious new architectural projects.

Finally, thanks to the wise rule of the Medici family, Florence knew years of peace and prosperity and earned for itself the title "cradle of the Renaissance." This period saw wealthy bankers and merchants pour investments into palaces of elegance (to replace their narrow tower houses) and churches' decorations. Today, what you appreciate is the result: a spectacular exhibition of captivating works of art and stunning architecture. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city of Florence is delightful and romantic— it is generously adorned with works from centuries ago and a storehouse of treasures that can be explored by all those interested. While walking down the road, take in Piazza della Signoria, a fine square dominated by Palazzo Vecchio and the town hall of Florence - Duomo, Cathedral of Florence. Adjacent to it is Giotto's Bell Tower and the Baptistery with its incredible golden mosaic doors called Gates of Paradise. Then move on to Orsanmichele and Santa Trinità.
